Stellar MLS is a shareholder in Broker Public Portal (BPP) who helped build Cribio, the platform behind Home Search, alongside other MLSs and brokerages. That ownership structure gives the industry, not an outside company, a direct role in how home search is developed, and keeps the platform accountable to the professionals whose data and client relationships it supports.

No. Every inquiry on Stellar MLS Home Search goes straight to the listing agent. Nothing is sold or routed anywhere else. Brokers and agents receive full and prominent attribution on their listings. It's designed to give customers and their clients a place to come together, not to pull traffic away from customer websites.

No. Stellar MLS Home Search doesn't replace Matrix or any other professional tool or service brokers and agents use to serve their clients. It will not display private comments, showing instructions, or any other information not typically displayed within an Internet Data Exchange (IDX) feed.

No. We have no intention of replacing or competing with other major portals or any other prominent home search site. Our aim is to provide our customers with a simple, neutral option that they feel confident recommending to their clients. 

Stellar MLS Home Search isn't supported by advertising and doesn't operate a lead marketplace. There are no paid placements or preferential treatment in search results. The agent shown on a listing is the listing agent, and inquiries go directly to that agent rather than being sold or routed to a competing advertiser. Other major portals sell ads and leads. 

Stellar MLS Home Search is built to give customers and their clients direct access to accurate data and an effective means to collaborate. 

There's no cost to customers or the public to access or use Stellar MLS Home Search. Our focus is on keeping the site performing well and making sure customers know it's there and how to use it. 

Stellar MLS Home Search shows all listings within Stellar MLS that have been designated for public display by the listing broker, listing agent, and/or their client. Consumers can search across Stellar's entire coverage area. It doesn't show For Sale By Owner (FSBO) or non-MLS listings.

If an agent shares their "agent link" with the buyer, and the buyer certifies they are working with that agent, then the buyer's agent's data will display.  Note that this is shared within a relationship between an agent and buyer, and agents do not have the ability to purchase leads. 

Listings update every 2.5 minutes on average, so consumers see status changes and other listing details accurately and close to real time. 

No, Stellar MLS has offered consumer-facing search before, but the industry has shifted and so has the technology and ownership behind this version. We are reintroducing public home search now due to heightened industry controversy over how large portal sites display listing information. In this environment, it is our obligation to maintain a direct, “from the source” search option that our broker and agent customers can feel confident recommending to their clients — one where the full picture of homes for sale will always live, built on data they can trust, without the interference of ads or lead-gen schemes.  

The industry noise, and the “portal wars”, will continue. Our focus remains on our customers.

To be clear: We are not launching Stellar MLS Home Search in an attempt to replace or undermine portals. Nor is our goal to compete with our own customers' websites. Our strategy is to play a supporting role, providing our customers with a resource that maintains the integrity of their data while offering a direct connection to prospective clients. 

Because Stellar MLS is a shareholder in the Broker Public Portal project, we can take advantage of the BPP’s Cribio search platform, which offers a level of speed, simplicity, and usability beyond what any one MLS, or nearly any broker acting alone, could support. 

While the site cannot be white labeled, an agent or office specific link is available, allowing the agent or office to share a link with their branding, and allowing contact requests to be routed to that agent or office.  This does require the consumer to certify they are working with that agent/office.  Click here to learn how to copy your specific link. 

Yes. Cribio, the platform behind Stellar MLS Home Search, offers a mobile app. You can also access Home Search at StellarMLS.com from a desktop or mobile browser.

Stellar MLS Home Search shows listings that are For Sale, including Active, Coming Soon, and Under Contract. It also shows For Rent and Sold properties. 

Stellar MLS Home Search covers all of the Stellar MLS Coverage Area, and that of participating MLSs across multiple markets in the United States. Stellar MLS Home Search can also be accessed internationally, although access may be limited in certain countries.

Coverage continues to expand as new MLS markets are added.

Consumers should contact their real estate agent or broker with questions or inquiries.

When multiple listings share the same address, the listing with the most complete information will appear first. Users can then select from the available listings using a drop-down menu. This also applies when a property is listed both for sale and for lease. 

Stellar MLS Home Search is powered by the Broker Public Portal, which is jointly owned by more than 100 MLSs and brokerages, including Stellar MLS. Each participating organization owns one equal unit, regardless of its size, ensuring that no single MLS or brokerage has a greater ownership share than another. 

Stellar MLS Home Search is an additional tool, not a replacement for other Stellar MLS products. OneHome is how listings from Matrix are communicated to customers, and it is a private invite-only portal. Stellar MLS Home Search is a public-facing consumer website, that offers buyer agents a branded link to share.
